The Sun reported that former Arsenal midfielder Christopher Olsen is about to step into the boxing arena after saying goodbye to football due to brain disease.

The 30-year-old player once played for the Gunners' first team and scored a penalty in the 2013 League Cup penalty game against West Brom.

Olsen joined Sino-Jetland in 2014 and has since played for many clubs in Sweden, Russia and Belgium. He returned to Central Jutland in 2022, but fainted at home in February 2024 after a sudden illness. Doctors found that there were multiple blood clots in his brain and inflammation.

The midfielder, who played 47 times for the Swedish national team, lost his athletic function and language skills for a time, was forced to undergo medical induction of coma and was treated in the hospital for several months. Olson has recovered from health and returned to his youth training parent team.

But the 30-year-old has made a bold decision now to participate in an exhibition match this Saturday to fight 36-year-old teammate Mike Sema. The strong Mike Sema is the elder brother of former Watford midfielder Ken Sema.

Olson admitted: "I didn't consider the issue of head strikes at all. This is no different from head strikes in football."

"I am not afraid, and I believe we will fight friendly. We often joke that we don't know who will get punched hard. It may be knocked down, but it is never fatal. It's more like fun competition. Mike and I are teammates and will not fight with all our strength."
