The Yunnan Provincial Forestry Department reported on May 13 that a case of illegal hunting of giant pandas was cracked. Three suspects have been approved for arrest.

Wan Yong, deputy director of the Yunnan Provincial Forestry Department, reported that since November 2014, Yunnan has continued to carry out special operations to crack down on illegal hunting of wild animals. On December 31, 2014, the Forest Public Security Bureau of Shuifu County, Zhaotong City seized a batch of wild animal corpses and 8.5 kilograms of suspected bear meat during the operation, and immediately filed a criminal case for investigation. On February 3 this year, the Yunnan Border Science and Technology Commission's Identification Center completed DNA identification of the suspected bear meat seized and sent for testing, confirming that it was the body of a giant panda. Yunnan Province then formed a joint task force to investigate. The case was successfully solved a few days ago when villagers were bitten to death for sheep. After investigation, on December 3, 2014, the suspect Wang Mouge found that the sheep in his sheep pen was bitten to death by wild animals, so he put a condom next to the sheep pen. On the morning of December 4, the suspect Wang Mou Ge found that the condom was broken. His brother also called and said that he had found wild animal footprints in the forest behind the house. So Wang Mou Ge carried a gunpowder gun and a dog, and the two brothers began to hunt along the footprints. When they chased to the water ditch in Longtai Village, the two brothers found a wild animal. Brother Wang shot and hunted the wild animal.

At around 3 pm that day, Brother Wang called the suspect Li to contact the sale of giant panda products. At around 11 o'clock that night, the Wang brothers sold about 35 kilograms of giant panda meat and four giant panda feet to Li for 4,800 yuan on the side of the road near Chuansi Village, Pu'er Town, Yanjin County. Li took the giant panda meat and four giant panda feet back to his home in Liangwan Town, Shuifu County that night, and sold the four giant panda feet to the criminal suspect Wang in Yibin, Sichuan on December 6, and sold the giant panda meat to the criminal suspect Wu. Later, Wu sold the giant panda meat to the criminal suspect Wang, Qin, and Du.
