Babies sometimes have green poop. Some people say it’s indigestion, and some people say it’s a cold. So why does a dog poop green poop? What should the master do? Everyone should know it after reading this article.

1. Dietary reasons

The color of your dog's stool will be affected by food. If your dog has eaten too much grass or green vegetables recently, and the food is not completely digested and excreted in the feces, your dog's stool will look green. In this regard, the owner can recall whether the dog has eaten green food recently. If it has, then it is normal to have green poop.

2. Biliary dysfunction

The gallbladder is an important organ, as it determines the color of stool. When bile is secreted to digest food in the intestine, bilirubin and biliverdin are formed. If the bile pigment is normal, the dog's poop will be normal yellow or brown. If the dog poops green, it means that the bile function is abnormal, leading to abnormal bile pigment. At this time, it is recommended that the owner take the dog to the pet hospital for examination in time, and then provide symptomatic treatment according to the examination results.

3. Colitis

Colitis will cause biliverdin to be unable to be restored normally, so the dog's poop will be green. At the same time, dogs suffering from colitis can also cause symptoms of frequent diarrhea, abdominal pain and even blood in the stool, which are mostly caused by intestinal parasites such as trichomonas, bacteria, and viruses. If this is the case, the owner needs to take the dog to the pet hospital for examination as soon as possible to determine the specific cause and then provide symptomatic treatment.
