I believe that friends who have pets at home have this experience. Their pets will emit odor from time to time. So have you ever thought about what are the main sources of pet odor? Let’s find out together!

1. Oral cavity Because pets are omnivorous animals and mainly focus on carnivore, after eating, food residues are left between the teeth, and the oral cavity will emit a bad smell. If your pet has persistent, unbearable bad breath, it may be suffering from oral inflammation, gingivitis, periodontitis or gastrointestinal disease.

2. Ears: Pets’ ear canals are prone to accumulation of oil, dust and moisture. Especially for dogs with big ears, the droopy ears and the long hair near the ear canal often cover the ear canal. As a result, the air circulation in the ear canal is not smooth, and dirt and moisture can easily accumulate in the ear canal, leading to infection and inflammation.

3. Anal glands This is a place that most pet lovers ignore. Anal glands help pets identify themselves, which is why you often see dogs sniffing each other's butts when they meet. If a pet stays indoors for a long time and does not exercise much, its muscle strength will decrease and it will be unable to push out excess anal gland fluid. Over time, the anal glands will easily become blocked and swollen, causing odor!

4. If the skin is injured and not treated for a long time, it will cause inflammation and then emit odor; when there are fleas and other insects on the skin, it is easy to produce odor. This is because pets will scratch the skin because of itchiness, and scratching the skin will make the skin more susceptible to infection.

5. Digestive problems: Gastric gas in pets is also the source of odor, which is related to the food they eat. If you eat rotten food, including high protein and amino acid foods with high sulfur content, such as soybean plants and soybeans, it will easily cause odor.
